About Borgo delle Tovaglie
Borgo delle Tovaglie is a brand born in Bologna in 1996 from the idea of Daniela (the current owner’s mother). She desired to make elegant tablecloths but with the unique practicality of stain-resistant fabrics. Back then in Italy, there were only horrible oilcloths, at most usable for children’s parties in the garden, with treatment so heavy and shiny to make them reflective and rigid. Alternatively, fabrics with a Teflon treatment began to appear, which were defined as waterproof, but which in fact, only resisted water.
Daniella, an elegant woman with refined tastes, extremely practical, modern, and capable of combining work with a family of four needs. Although the daily routine of our life imposed certain practicality, she never wanted to give up a well-set table. Sundays with the family spent happy, and at the table, there were grandparents, uncles, and grandchildren, and often, in those happy moments, the stains on the tablecloth were perhaps the only problem.
This is how the first Borgo delle Tovaglie shop was born in Bologna, at number five of the ancient via delle Tovaglie, in an interior conceived as a small living room where Daniela received customers to make made-to-measure linen tablecloths with stain-resistant treatment and gorgeous lace edges.
