About Jane Hogben Pottery
Jane Hogben has been making decorative terracotta pieces for the home and garden since she left the Central School of Art and Design in 1982.
In the autumn of 1991, Jane established her business, initially producing decorative terracotta, urns and flower pots for the garden. Ultimately the business evolved into the production of pottery for the home.
Sprigging
Jane has specialised in a technique known as sprigging a technique for decorating pottery with low-relief shapes made separately from the main body and applied to it before firing. These are attached to a range of jugs, bowls and mugs, and then hand-painted by Jane and her team. This type of technique dates back to Roman times
Inspiration for our designs comes from the garden, from Freddie, Jane’s Fox Terrier and from walks in the beautiful countryside around the Chiltern Hills.
Handmade in Buckinghamshire
Due to the handmade nature of the pottery, expect individual items to have variations. The colours and detail of each item may vary, of course, adding to the individuality and charm of being handmade.
All pottery items are dishwasher-safe.
