One of their oldest designs, the Buckingham range of Simplex kettles has been manufactured by Newey and Bloomer in England since it’s patent was granted in 1903.

Designed in a different era, The Buckingham’s built in coil – originally to handle stove tops with little to no flame control, now works as a rapid convection heating feature! Who would have thought rapid boil energy efficiency was around in 1903?

Taking it’s name from The Sovereign’s official London residence this kettle is the traditional, authentic design that has been loved across the globe for generations.

Produced in the 21st century using techniques of ages past, the Simplex tea kettle from Newey & Bloomer is a masterful creation. From its base coil, designed for gas stoves, ensuring a rapid boil and superior heat retention, to its signature spout – each handmade Newey & Bloomer kettle is a work of art.

Manufacturing these beautiful pieces of history takes over a month in our Birmingham factory. Still, we take great pride in our heritage, so be sure to look out for the bases, proudly stamped ‘Made in England’ as they have done since Newey & Bloomer first began making kettles in 1903.

Every Simplex Kettle by Newey & Bloomer from the Kensington collection is unique, and the Buckingham No 3 features a coil base designed for gas stoves to promote swift boiling and superior heat retention.

Care of your Simplex Kettle

When maintained properly, your Simplex tea kettle can be expected to last for generations.

  • Hand wash only and dry with a soft cloth
  • Do not let the Simplex tea kettle boil dry
  • Do not clean with any acidic cleaning agents
  • Do not scrub with steel wool or abrasive cleaning cloths/brushes or pads, as this can lead to irreparable damage.

We deliver products using the best means possible. Shipping costs are influenced by the size and weight of the product and your location. Exact shipping costs are calculated in the shopping cart and will be added to the order total before checkout.

Shipping Times

Orders are generally dispatched within 1-2 business days from Melbourne, Australia. Shipping times are estimated at between 2 and 14 business days depending on your location and what service you selected (Standard or Express). Whilst delivery delays are uncommon, we are not responsible for deliveries by the carrier if outside of these estimates.

Click & Collect

We also offer customers the option to pick up the item from our store in Ashburton (VIC, 3147) - this option can be selected during the checkout phase. You will be asked to produce ID and/or a copy of the receipt when you come to collect the goods.

How They Are Made

We select only the purest and finest copper and brass and spin by hand the traditional shape and ensure the centre seam is in the middle of the kettle – just as it was in 1903 - thus giving strength and stability to the kettle and purposely distanced away from the direct heat source.

Each handmade spout is lined with tin, delicately curved in just the right places with a little ‘bird’s mouth’ spout at the end – not only aesthetically pleasing – but to ensure a smooth, optimum pour.

All our kettles are lined by hand in the age-old traditional way using hot molten tin. This creates a far superior bond with the copper than modern-day electro-tin plating techniques which can flake and expose the water to copper.

Newey & Bloomer patented the Simplex Kettle design with a whistling lid – an ingenious design concept of the era. The patent was established in the early 1900s. Today, we continue to manufacture by hand to the same exacting standards to ensure the nostalgic sound of the Simplex Kettle whistle lives on for generations.
